                                                                                             YOUTH WORKS

One aspect of our program in Harrisburg is work projects. We partner with homeowners, focusing on painting homes and porches, and some minor home repairs. We would appreciate your help in lining up projects for the summer.

Below are the details and guidelines for potential work projects:

o Volunteers: Our program runs June 24 – August 8. Groups of 10-12 high school students and their adult leaders will work on each project. Age-appropriate projects which can accommodate groups of this size are ideal.

o Painting Projects: One story homes are ideal, though two story homes may work. Anything taller than that is difficult, due to safety concerns and the height restrictions of our ladders.

o Supplies: YouthWorks can donate paint and supplies. Since we have limited color options, homeowners can also provide the paint of their choice.

o Partnership: YouthWorks volunteers these services for free. In return, we’d love for homeowners (as schedules allow) to spend time with the youth working on their homes. This may be sharing stories about life in the community or sharing a meal.

o Minor home repairs: If we have the skills and resources, we may be able to paint fences, railings, porches, assist with yardwork or complete minor repairs.

o Please let homeowners know that turning in an application is not a guarantee we will be able to do the requested work. We would love to help everyone, but some projects are beyond our skill level.

Thank you,
